A very thin weak hedgehog with only 3 legs

This little hedgehog was found on 19th January 2008

 He was freezing cold, soaking wet and totally collapsed. You can see how thin he is.

On examination he weighed just under 400 grams and for his size, if he had been healthy he should weigh between 800 and 900 grams, so is less than half his proper weight

He has a missing back leg and the scar from that shows a fairly clean cut so was obviously done by a strimmer. He must have crawled off & managed to heal the wound but that left him so weak that he couldn't build up enough to survive hibernation. How he managed to survive this long on his own I really don't know.

He is completely bald underneath with no hair at all due to mites. He is so run down and in such a poor state that he needs intensive medical treatment if he is to have any chance of survival at all

Don't let the hedgehogs in YOUR garden end up like this. Put down food and water for them
